Markowski Christmas Lights
Immerse yourself in a dazzling display of more than a million Christmas lights as you drive through the Markowski Lights. This spectacular display, in its 20th year, has become a beloved holiday tradition and the anchor site for Brownsville’s Holiday Trail of Lights. Follow Markowski Lights on Facebook to know when Santa, the Grinch and other beloved characters are making a special appearance. If you enjoy your visit, please consider leaving a donation in the mailbox at the end of the route.
Santa's Workshop
Santa visits Brownsville at his workshop location on the historic court square where kids can write letters, take photos and delight in the festive atmosphere. The workshop is courtesy of Adam and Heather Smith, a local family who loves Christmas and wants to share the holidays with the area’s children. The use of “The Twenty” building is courtesy of Chris Morey of Ferocious Graphix. Live music and food are available next door at Mr. Jimmy’s Farmers Market on Nov. 30 and December 7.

Caroling on Jefferson
Holiday music fills the air at the Amphitheater just off the Brownsville Court Square where children and choirs will share classic carols and favorite holiday tunes. You are invited to sing along and embrace the spirit of the season. Presented by the Historic Jefferson Street Association.

The annual Stanton Christmas Parade is another beloved tradition in Haywood County TN. Watch as colorful floats and Santa Claus himself parade through the streets of Stanton, spreading holiday cheer. Line up begins at 1 pm and parade begins at 2 pm.
Hatchie BirdFest

Haywood Comic Convention
The Haywood Comic Convention in Brownsville, Tennessee is set to be a two-day comic and pop culture extravaganza that promises fun, food, entertainment, music, and an excellent time for all attendees. Join us Saturday, March 9, 10-6 pm and Sunday, March 10, 10am-4pm. Tickets are $12 and $18.
Film Release: The Steel Garden
The origin of a Tennessee Icon, "The Steel Garden," is explored through this documentary about Brownsville artist Billy Tripp and his unique metal sculpture, The MindField. The film is produced and directed by another Haywood County native, Randall Kendrick. Following this special screening of the film, Kendrick and Dr. Beth Tripp will discuss the film and take questions from the audience. A free event giving the community a chance to see the documentary before it's public release.
Brownsville Mardi Gras

An Afternoon with Billy Weir
Billy Weir was the first drummer for Harold Jenkins (aka Conway Twitty), when Weir was only 15 years old and later listed as one of Sun Records 5 Great Drummers. Weir started his music career as a drummer in a Jackson TN school band before his family moved to Memphis where he attended Humes High School. At age 83, he is releasing a compilation vinyl record with original songs that span his music career, including a remix of a song with Conway Twitty. Weir is also an author and owner / engineer at Gumball Recording Studios. Special guests will also be on hand for the release of his album "Here We Go Again." A special presentation and program at 3 pm.
Tennessee Songwriters Week Qualifying Round
The West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center is proud to be an official qualifying venue for the 2024 TN Songwriters Week. All singer / songwriters in all genres are eligible to compete. The Delta Heritage Center qualifier will be Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 1-5 pm. Only 20 slots are available. Winner of the qualifying round will move on to the next round to be held in Memphis the week of Feb. 18-24.
