Santa’s Favorite West TN Town for the Holidays

Brownsville Tennessee is channeling its inner North Pole this holiday with dazzling lights and festive fun for all. It’s the perfect place to celebrate the season. Beginning November 22 through December 30, there is plenty to do.

“Brownsville may not be a winter wonderland like the North Pole but it has a warm heart and a generous giving spirit,” says Santa. “That’s why I love to visit here.”

Join Santa in Brownsville for a magical month filled with a variety of events and activities for families and individuals. Best of all, most of these events are free. Here’s a roundup of merry happening throughout the city.

Santa Snow and Cocoa

  • Date: Friday, November 22, 2024

  • Time: 5-8 pm

  • Location: West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center, 121 Sunny Hill Cove, Brownsville

Families are invited to gather among swirling snow flurries and a forest of twinkling lights to enjoy free cocoa and visits with Santa. The evening will include face painting, cookie decorating, a Letter to Santa station, music and an on-site food truck.

Markowski Drive-Thru Christmas Lights

  • Date: November 23 – December 31, 2024

  • Time: Evening from dark until 10 pm

  • Location: 1675 Coburn Road, Brownsville

Immerse yourself in a dazzling display of more than a million Christmas lights as you drive through the Markowski lights. This spectacular display, in its 20th year, has become a beloved holiday attraction and the anchor site for the Holiday Trail of Lights. Follow Markowski Lights on Facebook to know when Santa, the Grinch and other beloved characters are making a special appearance. If you enjoy your visit, please consider leaving a donation in the mailbox at the end of the route.

Shop Small Saturday

  • Date: Saturday, November 30

  • Time: 10 am – 4 pm

  • Location: Downtown Brownsville

Local merchants celebrate Shop Small with stores open and filled with unique holiday gift ideas and other special activities planned throughout the day.

Santa's Workshop

  • Date: November 30, December 5, 7, 12, 14,19, 21 - 2024

  • Time: Nov. 30 from 4-8 pm; Dec. 7 from 7-9 pm; all other dates 6-8 pm

  • Location: 20 North Washington, Brownsville

Santa continues his visits to Brownsville at his workshop location on the historic court square where kids can write letters, take photos and delight in the festive atmosphere. The workshop is courtesy of Adam and Heather Smith, a local family who loves Christmas and wants to share the holidays with the area’s children. The use of “The Twenty” building is courtesy of Chris Morey of Ferocious Graphix. Live music and food are available next door at Mr. Jimmy’s Farmers Market on Nov. 30 and December 7.

Holiday Trail of Lights

  • Date: December 1 - 30, 2024

Using Markowski Lights as your anchor, you are invited to follow the Trail of Lights across the city and county to enjoy lighted outdoor displays, decorated windows and storefronts and more. Make stops at Santa’s Workshop and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant as part of your evening.  What better way to celebrate the season than a drive with family and friends. Take your time and enjoy.

Caroling on Jefferson

  • Date: Thursday, December 5, 2024

  • Time: 6 pm

  • Location: Brownsville Amp, 23 South Lafayette, Brownsville

Holiday music fills the air at the Amphitheater just off the Brownsville Court Square where children and choirs will share classic carols and favorite holiday tunes. You are invited to sing along and embrace the spirit of the season. Presented by the Historic Jefferson Street Association.

Christmas Basket Radiothon

  • Date: Friday, December 6, 2024

  • Time: 7a – 12p

  • Location: Brownsville Radio, 42 South Washington

Brownsville Radio and Vision Haywood County presents the 39th annual Christmas Basket Radiothon that invites call in donations on the radio that morning to raise funds for needy families in the community. The baskets are delivered the weekend before Christmas and include toys for the children, too.

Classic Christmas, Carriage Rides and Annual Christmas Parade

  • Date: December 7, 2024

  • Time: 10 am – 9 pm

  • Location: Historic Downtown Brownsville

Experience the charm of old-fashioned Christmas shopping in Historic Downtown Brownsville. Stroll through the quaint shops and enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides through the historic district. You’ll find kids’ activities at Brownsville Amp and the day will include a special Children’s Parade with Santa at 3 pm, plus Mrs. Claus also makes a special appearance. Local restaurants will be open and food trucks on site. The evening brings the annual Christmas parade at 6 pm. Stake out your spot early to be sure you don’t miss anything. Soon after the parade, Santa will be available at his workshop and live music and food will be available to enjoy at Mr. Jimmy’s Farmers Market, until 9 pm.  All of this is made possible by community partners along with the Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Brownsville and the Emergency Management Agency Support Unit.

Stanton Christmas Parade

  • Date: December 14, 2024

  • Time: 2 pm

  • Location: Downtown Stanton TN

The annual Stanton Christmas Parade is another beloved tradition in Haywood County TN. Watch as colorful floats and Santa Claus himself parade through the streets, spreading holiday cheer.
